DIODE LASER HAIR REMOVAL
At Depilhome, we use revolutionary diode lasers from Alma® Lasers and SHR Germany ©, which allow permanent, safe, and efficient hair removal in any area of the body.
The secret to this high-quality and professional laser hair removal lies in the highly efficient treatment head, which operates at a laser wavelength of 808 nm or 810 nm. This advanced technology allows for targeted and selective destruction of hair follicles. You’ll see visible results from the very first session.
To achieve maximum performance, we use short pulses with a high number of cycles. This evenly distributes energy to effectively stimulate the hair follicles while protecting the surrounding skin. Therefore, the treatment is absolutely safe and painless.
This technology thermally destroys the cells responsible for hair growth in an early stage of their growth cycle. Since each hair follicle is in a different growth phase at the time of treatment, several sessions are necessary for optimal results.
However, diode laser hair removal requires significantly fewer treatments overall than other methods, such as waxing, shaving, or epilating. With professional laser hair removal from Depilhome, you not only save time and money in the long run, but also enjoy more comfort and freedom.
The individual hair growth, the condition of the skin, the body area to be treated, and personal hormone balance are important factors that vary from person to person and can influence the number of necessary treatments. Based on years of experience, it is typically recommended that around 8-10 treatments may be needed depending on these factors. In the facial area, treatments can be performed every 4-6 weeks, while the rest of the body may require an inteval of 6-8 weeks between treatments.
It is important to know what results you can expect from laser hair removal. Depilhome offers an unlimited number of free consultations, during which we’ll examine your skin and hair type to assess whether the treatment is suitable for you. During the consultation, we will also inform you about the treatment guidelines, the estimated number of sessions required, the procedure, as well as the associated care and application recommendations.

Is laser hair removal suitable for me?
Basically, diode laser hair removal can be performed on anyone. Dark hair is ideal due to its melanin content and allows for a perfect result. The darker the hair, the better!
Unfortunately, very light hair such as blonde or gray hair that do not contain enough (or any) melanin cannot absorb enough laser energy. This means that the hair follicles cannot be heated to the optimal temperature and destroyed to achieve the desired result.
How does a diode laser work?
By absorbing optical energy, the hair is heated up to the follicle and subsequently dies. The laser energy can only be absorbed by the existing melanin in the hair. Each hair is in a specific phase of growth, with hairs in the active growth phase (anagen phase) containing the highest percentage of melanin. Therefore, treatments need to be repeated several times within a certain time period to treat each hair follicle accordingly.
Most hairs from the treated area fall out within 2 to 3 weeks and either do not grow back at all or grow back very weakly. With each treatment, the number of fallen-out hairs increases while the regrown hairs become weaker and softer.
Can a treatment be performed during summer if my skin is tanned?
Thanks to advanced laser technology, it is possible to perform effective and safe treatments even in the summer when the skin is fully tanned. However, for additional safety, we recommend avoiding direct sunlight or other UVA radiation 48 hours before and after the treatment.
How to prepare for the laser treatment?
To ensure effective destruction of the hair follicle, which relies on melanin, it is recommended to avoid waxing or epilating body hair for at least 3-4 weeks prior to laser hair removal. For the face, 2-3 weeks is sufficient. The area to be treated should be shaved the day before.
On the day of the treatment itself, it is advised not to apply any creams, oils, lotions, or similar cosmetic products. If you plan to have your armpits treated, it is recommended to avoid using deodorants on that da. Makeup on the face can be removed shortly before the treatment in the salon and reapplied after the treatment. It is especially important to note that sauna, tanning bed, and exposure to strong sunlight should be avoided two days before and after the laser hair removal.
Are there any specific things I need to consider when taking medication?
Some medications can cause photosensitivity and therefore require great care in their use. It is very important that you always read the package insert of your medication to find out if it can cause such photosensitivity. It is recommended to avoid taking these corresponding medications at least 48 hours before laser treatment, but we strongly recommend that you consult your doctor beforehand.
The following list serves only as a guideline and does not replace medical advice!
The most commonly known photosensitizing medications include:
- Antibiotics (Tetracycline, Doxycycline, Ciprofloxacin)
- Analgesics for pain and inflammation (Ibuprofen)
- Diuretics (Furosemide, Hydrochlorothiazide)
- Medications for heart disease (Amiodarone, Quinidine)
- Allergy medications (Diphenhydramine)
- Creams for muscle cramps and joint pain
- Antifungals (Griseofulvin)
- Acne medications (Isotretinoin)
- Antidepressants (Amitriptyline)
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (Naproxen, Piroxicam)
- Antimicrobial medications (Ciprofloxacin, Levofloxacin, Doxycycline)
- Medications for the treatment of cancer (5-Fluorouracil, Dacarbazine)
What is the minimum age for Laser hair removal?
The minimum age for diode laser hair removal is 14 years, but experts recommend starting a few years later since hormonal changes are common in the body at this early age, and more treatments would be required for optimal results. After hormone regulation (usually between the ages of 17 and 19), the effect of the treatments is significantly more effective and sustainable.
If you decide to do laser hair removal with us before the age of 18, it is necessary to come to the first consultation accompanied by a parent / legal guardian who will sign a consent form for your treatment.
How many treatments are needed?
Although the effect of diode laser hair removal is visible after the first treatment, an average of 8-10 sessions (with intervals of 6-8 weeks) are required for optimal results on the body. In the facial area, the number of required treatments may be higher on average and should be done monthly.
At the time of the treatment, only about 10% of body hair is in the active growth phase (anagen phase), so it is necessary to perform the corresponding number of treatments for a perfect result. After a series of treatments, a follow-up treatment is recommended once a year or every two years as needed to maintain perfectly smooth skin.
Can I do a treatment on an area with moles or a tattoo?
For smaller moles, no precautions are necessary. To protect larger moles, a special concealer pencil or a white patch is used. Tattoos also need to be covered so that they do not absorb laser energy, as they could otherwise fade or burn. In general, laser treatment should not be performed on tattooed skin surfaces.
Is diode laser hair removal painless?
Hair removal by diode laser technology is the only method for painless, permanent hair removal that is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). However, it should be noted that the threshold of pain tolerance is not the same for everyone and therefore, although very rarely, some people may experience some discomfort. In addition, the laser potency is always adjusted based on the customer’s sensitivity.
What if I am pregnant?
Generally, laser hair removal is considered as a very safe method, but no studies have been conducted on the effects of laser radiation on pregnant women and the fetus. As a result of this lack of research, it is recommended to avoid laser hair removal treatment during the entire duration of pregnancy.
