Laser hair removal – Szombathely

With our high-tech diode lasers, all skin types, according to the Fitzpatrick scale, can be treated, so you don’t need to worry even if your skin tone is darker.

More important is the color of the hair to be removed: unfortunately, very light, gray, or melanin-free white hair cannot absorb enough laser energy, meaning they won’t heat up to the optimal temperature needed for destruction, so the desired result cannot be achieved.

Additionally, certain other factors, such as medical conditions, medications, or tattoos in the treatment area, may disqualify you – these are discussed in detail in other questions.

By absorbing the laser’s energy, the hair heats up down to the follicle and then dies. Hair growth has three phases, with the hair in the first phase, called the anagen growth phase, containing the highest amount of melanin. Since individual hair is not all in the same phase at the same time, the treatments must be repeated multiple times. After the treatment, the hair in the treated area begins to fall out after 2-3 weeks, and it takes a few weeks before they grow back.

After each treatment, the hair that was affected by the laser will fall out. The amount may vary. Some people find that their hair gradually grows back less and less, while for others, the hair disappears and regrows in an irregular pattern during the treatment series. One thing is certain: by the end of the treatment series, you will be satisfied with the result.

Thanks to advanced laser technology, effective and safe treatments can also be carried out in summer when the skin is fully tanned. However, to increase safety, we recommend avoiding direct sunlight or any other UVA radiation for 48 hours before and after the treatment.

Since the melanin in the hair follicle is necessary for the laser to destroy it, facial hair should not be waxed or plucked for at least 2-3 weeks and body hair for 3-4 weeks before laser hair removal. The treated area should be shaved the night before. On the day of the treatment, avoid using creams, oils, lotions, and similar cosmetic products, as well as deodorant if the underarms are being treated.

Makeup on the face should be removed just before the treatment (it can be reapplied afterward). It’s important to note that you should avoid saunas, tanning beds, and direct sunlight two days before and two days after the treatment.

Certain medications can cause photosensitivity, so special caution is needed. It’s crucial to always read the package leaflet of the medication to find out if it causes photosensitivity. These symptoms don’t always appear in every individual, but everyone should be aware of them if they are taking photosensitizing medications or using creams. For this reason, we recommend discontinuing such medications 48 hours before the laser treatment and ask that you inform us in advance of any medication use.
The most common photosensitizing medications include:

• Antibiotics
• Creams used for muscle strains and joint pain
• Pain and anti-inflammatory drugs
• Diuretics
• Heart rhythm regulators
• Antifungals

The minimum age for laser hair removal is 14 years, but we recommend waiting a few more years. During early adolescence, hormonal changes in the body are common, so more treatments may be needed to achieve optimal results, or we may not be able to guarantee the desired outcome. After hormone regulation (usually between the ages of 17 and 19), treatments are much more effective and long-lasting.

If you decide to have laser hair removal before the age of 18, please bring a parent/legal guardian to the first consultation, as their consent will be required for the treatment.

The effect of the laser is noticeable after the first treatment, but an average of 10-12 sessions (at 2-month intervals) are needed to achieve optimal results.

For the face, more treatments may be required, and treatments are repeated monthly. Afterward, a maintenance treatment can be done about once a year to keep the skin completely smooth.

For smaller moles, no special precautions are needed. To protect larger moles, we use special concealer pencils or white tape. Tattoos must also be covered to prevent them from attracting the laser’s energy, as this would damage or fade them. Generally, the laser cannot be used on tattooed areas.

The devices we use are recognized by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) as a painless hair removal system.

Some people may feel slight pain, similar to small needle pricks. The intense cooling system in the treatment head reduces any discomfort during the procedure.

Laser hair removal is generally considered a safe method, but there have been no studies on the effects of lasers on pregnant women or the fetus. Due to the lack of research, the treatment is not recommended during the entire pregnancy!
