Hair removal with sugar paste

Since ancient times, people have found ways to remove unwanted hair for both aesthetic and hygienic reasons. A hairless body was also appreciated by the ancient Egyptians, who are considered the inventors of hair removal with sugar paste. In addition to spirituality, the appearance of the Egyptians was of the utmost importance. Both men and women were depilated, and it is particularly interesting that even Queen Cleopatra herself used this method.

Although this method of hair removal is very natural, it is neither completely safe nor particularly practical. Apart from often causing the problem of ingrown hairs, it can only be applied after a certain amount of hair growth, which is not always the ideal solution when you want perfectly smooth skin on the day when the hair is actually still growing.

The recipe for sugar paste is easy to find on the internet and seems to be easily made. However, the line between a successful and an unsuccessful mixture is narrow, as it depends on the cooking temperature, cooking time, the ingredients used, and their mixing ratio. A visit to a salon guarantees a successfully prepared mixture, but it is not uncommon for it to be mixed with depilation wax, which in turn contains various chemicals.

Our modern age also requires a modern method of hair removal, as busy schedules and everyday obligations leave us less and less free time. Therefore, this very laborious, ancient Egyptian method is losing importance.
